Dear Lord; Happy Tuesday Father!
Over the last few years Lord, I’ve been “hearing” more and more from You in my daily life and I have to tell You, it’s been a transformational change for me. While I know through Scripture and Faith that You’ve always been with me and always will be, as my Walk has progressed and I’ve learned to “listen” more carefully, I find Your Voice in almost every part of my day.
You speak to me through…
The wave of comfort and peace I get when I reach out to You in prayer.
The quick inner “watch it!” scolding I get after doing something that isn’t in line with Christ’s teachings (eg. Letting loose a nasty comment when someone cuts me off in traffic).
The warm feeling that crosses my heart when I see my children do things that Glorify You.
The quiet urgings I receive each day to step “outside my box”.
The song that plays on the local Christian radio station which delivers a message I need to hear, exactly when I need to hear it.
Feeling Your Presence whisper through the trees when I take long walks in the forest.
The “Spiritual Nudges” you give me to reach out and share Your Love.
And many others…
Heavenly Father, You speak to me in so many wonderful ways and I delight in continuing to discover new ones. As our steps grow closer, I pray that I’m able to hear Your Voice above all other sounds and make decisions that Glorify the Blessings You bestow on me.
“My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.” – John 10:27 (NIV)
Amen.

Dear Lord; Happy Thankful Thursday Father!
And once again Lord, we come to the “Thankful Thursday” post at PhatherPhil.org. You know, I find it fascinating that all throughout the week I have no problem finding things to be thankful for, but when I sit down each Thursday to write my list… writers block! I remember them eventually, but I don’t want to risk missing any that come to me “on the fly”. Therefore, I’m going to start making a concerted effort to actually write them down as I experience them, instead of simply trusting my cluttered memory stores. 🙂
Anyways Father, here’s my list for the week:
61. Stillness Sabbaticals.
62. Jonathan taking his first Communion.
63. Children that are “fired up” for God!
64. “Dinner and Drinks on the Deck” Friday evenings.
65. Divine “nudges” when I need them.
66. Clean carpets.
67. A ROM for my Android phone that doesn’t crash twice a day.
68. Encouragement from unexpected places.
69. Verses of Scripture that “come alive” in my heart.
70. Thick-sliced country bacon.
71. A fresh cup of coffee in 20 seconds from my Keurig.
72. My Flickr.com account.
73. My iPod on shuffle mode in the “Gospel & Religious” genre.
74. The daily “Free App of the Day” on the Amazon Android AppStore.
75. A marriage Blessed by understanding, respect, love and trust.
(And Father, #75 is and has been one of Your BIGGEST Blessings in my life by far. 🙂 )
Heavenly Father, Your Blessings in our lives each day are truly never-ending. You lift us up, comfort and encourage us, and teach us those lessons You know we need to grow in Your Kingdom. Please guide and strengthen us to make good choices, and to always seek Your Will above all else. Amen.

Dear Lord; Happy Thankful Thursday Father!
As I mentioned yesterday Father, I’ve felt a bit disconnected the past couple days so I think today’s “Counting My Blessings” post is just what the doctor ordered to realign my thoughts with all the Blessings You surround me with each day. I’ve seen a number of other “Bloggy Friends in Christ” having similar issues to those I expressed in yesterday’s post, so today I also want to pray for Your Comfort and Peace to be with them as well.
And on to the list! Continuing from last week…
46. An administrative assistant who makes sure I eat, even when I’m too hectic to think about it.
47. The encouraging and thoughtful comments that are left on phatherphil.org each day.
48. Spiritual Decompression time.
49. A Heavenly Father that’s never too busy to talk with me.
50. Having a local butcher who has wonderful, fresh meats at great prices.
51. A lull in the hot, sticky weather today (low 80s and a nice breeze).
52. The 12-foot market umbrella on our deck which allows us to be outside more often.
53. That the grass is growing slowly this week. 🙂
54. Godparents who take an active role in our children’s lives.
55. Friends willing to watch the boys now and again so Shannon and I can get out together.
56. Green’s Black Raspberry Blast Ice Cream
57. New sales that seem to show up just when I need them.
58. Afternoon coffee.
59. “Date Night” with Shannon.
60. Your Mercies in Disguise.
As always, I thank You Father for these and all the other Blessings You bestow on me each day. Even at my lowest points, I can look up and always see Your Light above me, welcoming me back to You. Amen.

Dear Lord; Happy Monday Father!
Today Father, my heart grieves for the mother of one of Your Children who lost his battle with cancer yesterday, and has left us to join You in Your Kingdom. His earthly trials are over Lord, and he triumphs in Your Presence, and for that my heart rejoices. His mother, family and friends however have a piece missing from their lives that will mourn his passing nonetheless. I pray for Your Healing and Comfort to all those missing Dorian’s light today Father, and ask that You keep them in Your Loving Arms so they may know the joy he’s experiencing with You now.
Searching for words of comfort Lord, I came across a poetic prayer written by Edgar A. Guest that touched my heart so deeply that I wanted to share it here:
A Child of Mine by Edgar A. Guest
“I’ll lend you for a little while
A child of mine,” God said,
“For you to have the while he lives,
And mourn for when he’s dead.
It may be six or seven years
Or twenty-two or three;
But will you ’till I call him back
Take care of him for me?
He’ll bring his charms to gladden you
And, should his stay be brief,
You’ll have his lovely memories
As a solace for your grief.
I cannot promise he will stay,
Since all from earth return;
But there are lessons taught below
I want this child to learn.
I’ve looked the whole world over
In search for teachers true;
And from the throngs that crowd life’s land,
I have chosen you.
Now, will you give him all your love
Nor think the labor vain?
Nor hate me when I come to take
This lent child back again?”
I fancied that I heard them say:
“Dear Lord, Thy will be done.
For all the joys Thy child will bring
The risk of grief we’ll run.
We’ll shower him with tenderness,
We’ll love him while we may.
And for the happiness we’ve known
Forever grateful stay.
But should Thy angel call for him
Much sooner than we’ve planned,
We’ll brave the bitter grief that comes
And try to understand.”
Amen.

P.S. For those who haven’t been following Dorian’s struggle, his mother has a page at CaringBridge.org which can be found here.

Dear Lord; Happy Thankful Thursday Father!
Following last week’s example Lord, I’m going to add to the list of Your Gifts that I’ve been especially grateful for this past week. It’s funny, but since last week’s posting I’ve been finding myself making mental notes as I go through the day; “Wow… This needs to make the list this week!”. I love having the mindset of “filing” all those wonderful Blessings You bestow on me so I can write them down later on. 🙂
Anyways Father, here’s my list this week:
16. Children who remember to say grace at dinnertime… Even when I forget.
17. A caring, God-loving veterinarian who understands what our “furry family members” mean to us.
18. Hunny responding well to the medication after only two days.
19. Good friends who go out of their way to help our family.
20. Live worship messages streaming from Crosspoint.tv on Sunday nights.
21. A staff who “rolls with the punches” in uncertain times.
22. Finding a Bluetooth headset for my phone that fits comfortably and works properly, (finally!)
23. Spring rainstorms that lull me to sleep at night.
24. A wife who likes mowing the lawn.
25. The smell of warm cinnamon bread baking in the oven.
26. Exploring the beauty and wonders of nature with the boys.
27. My hacked Nook Color Android Tablet.
28. Breakfast for Dinner.
29. The online Bible at YouVersion.com which I can access from my PC, my phone and my Android tablet.
30. Chunks of fresh strawberries in my fruit slushie.
Heavenly Father, as always this list could go on, and on, and on… Your Blessings surround us all each day, and I just love connecting with You further by putting them in writing.
Amen.
